Therapy Ropes Course, Stadtbergen

Augsburg (Bavaria)

In autumn 2014, the organization ‘Bunter Kreis’ asked us to design and build a special ropes course in the area of their new therapy centre ‘Ziegelhof’ in Stadtbergen near Augsburg.

In close collaboration with their team of therapists we created a facility which is suitable for therapeutic climbing, as well as experiential-educational work with people committed to wheel-chairs.

The High Ropes Course consists of a top-rope safety-system serving four climbing elements, a wheel-chair accessible Flying fox, and a suspension bridge. Both areas can be reached over a generous access ramp with no obstacles.

In designing this facility, there were a number of parameters that had to be considered. There needed to be enough room for wheel-chairs on the platforms, smooth access from element to element, low barriers on all open-sides, and self-closing access doors.

Future extensions to the facility were planned in.

The Safety Trainer Course we provided for the staff is certified by IAPA, and was delivered in spring, 2015.
