A new playground for the school community

The new playground at the Waldorf School in Wangen im Allgäu demonstrates what can be achieved with creative ideas, community involvement and well-thought-out planning. The old playhouse, which had been a favourite for decades, had to be replaced due to its condition. To make the best use of the available budget, existing elements such as the slide, the tower’s roof and the horizontal bars were integrated into the new design. Beneath the sheltering trees, a varied climbing and balancing course with a slide tower has been created, making optimal use of the available space. The project was carried out in collaboration with the school, dedicated parents and teaching staff, and impressively demonstrates how cooperation, sustainability and bespoke planning can result in a playground with high recreational value.
