More inclusive Farm playground
A play area has been created on the grounds of the Farmhouse Museum that combines inclusivity with play value. A large wooden tractor with a hay wagon, together with the adjacent play barn, forms a themed adventure playground. Children – including those in wheelchairs – can reach the tractor and hay wagon via an accessible ramp system. A slide with an entry platform and extended run-out completes the inclusive play facilities.
Various climbing and descending elements encourage children to climb, balance and explore. The design appeals to different age groups and enables a playful experience without barriers. A key objective was to create genuine participation – in the spirit of a museum that actively practises inclusion. The play facilities offer a variety of access points and blend harmoniously into the open-air museum, both in terms of content and design.
