The Silver Fir Region: Allgäu-Lake Constance Information points
As a tree of the future, the silver fir plays a vital role in stabilising our forests in the face of climate change. To raise awareness of this tree species in the Allgäu region and establish it as a key ‘player’ in the area, a total of eight silver fir information points have been designed, planned and built on behalf of the West Allgäu Forest Owners’ Association. Informative rotating pillars in the shape of a stylised silver fir, cosy resting spots and a silver fir adventure tower illustrate the great benefits and diversity of this special tree species.
The project partners of the ‘Allgäu-Lake Constance Silver Fir Region’ are seven Allgäu municipalities, within whose boundaries the information points are located. Highly frequented hiking and walking trails were specifically selected as locations in order to reach as many visitors as possible with the experience stations.
