My Mountain World Fly-Line

A versatile, all-year-round destination is gradually taking shape on the Unternberg near Ruhpolding. The company operating the Unternbergbahn is responding to increasingly unpredictable winters by creating an offering that allows locals and visitors alike to enjoy the mountain all year round. A special attraction is the new Fly-Line.
From a twelve-metre-high launch tower, visitors glide 600 metres down into the valley whilst seated in a harness and slowed by centrifugal force – through the forest and across a deep ravine, up to 15 metres above the ground. Two exhilarating loops in the course provide additional thrills. The barrier-free return journey is handled by the “Fly-Line Up”, which comfortably takes guests straight back to the launch tower.
The implementation posed particular challenges: pre-assembled steel components were flown in by helicopter and positioned on the foundations with millimetre precision. This was made possible by the precise collaboration between hochkant, the client, the steel fabricators and an experienced helicopter crew.
Safety is also a top priority: the operating team was trained by hochkant in specialised rescue techniques and had already obtained rope course instructor certification beforehand.
