Rappbode Dam Solitair Event Tower

Over the past 10 years, a unique tourist destination has been created at Germany’s highest dam, featuring a Mega-Fox, a wall-running facility and a suspension bridge with a Giga-Swing. To ensure the venue’s long-term viability, the operators (Harzdrenalin GmbH) have decided to expand the site with an event tower approximately 40 metres high.

The tower’s main attraction is the ‘Ultrashot’, which is unique in the world in this form. The facility is located inside the Solitaire. From there, participants (alone or in pairs) can be catapulted repeatedly from the base right to the top and beyond the tower. The highlight for participants (and spectators) is the moment when they fly out of the shaft opening towards the sky, only to disappear back into the tower in ‘free fall’. What makes it spectacular is that participants experience a state akin to weightlessness during the descent.

Further tower facilities include visitor platforms at various levels, a panoramic platform at the very top (including an exposed viewing platform), encircling staircases with a total of 160 steps, a glass panoramic lift, a tower-high wall-running facility, a 5D cinema and sun sails. A kiosk, a toilet block and a service building with storage facilities were also constructed.

Working closely with the operator, hochkant was responsible for the entire project development and coordination. All PPE (personal protective equipment) was also specially developed by hochkant for this purpose from the outset.
