Stelzenhäuser in Wiederhofen Tree chalets in the Allgäu
At an altitude of 950 metres above sea level in Wiederhofen (Missen-Wilhams), five tree chalets are ready to welcome guests. The project was based on an existing building design. In close consultation with the client, all parameters – including construction, materials and costs – were carefully planned and coordinated. The desire to fit the buildings with a continuous glass front whilst keeping the interior spaces as open as possible placed particular demands on the structural engineering.
The houses stand directly on the edge of a ravine. Installation on the partly steeply sloping terrain was made possible by a steel substructure that was precisely adapted to the conditions. The metal supports, up to 4.5 metres high, form the substructure for the tree chalets.
With two bedrooms, a bathroom and a fitted kitchen, the two-storey houses can accommodate up to four people. The living spaces are fitted with brushed solid spruce and Swiss stone pine beds, creating a natural, feel-good atmosphere. A panoramic sauna integrated into the buildings and an outdoor hot tub on the large wooden terraces offer additional luxury.
